麻省理工学院（MIT）的一组研究人员利用新方法将钙钛矿的效率提高到了25.2%，超过了当今典型硅电池的效率（通常在20%到22%之间），为进一步的改进奠定了基础。众所周知，钙钛矿是最终取代硅作为太阳能电池板的首选材料。它们提供了在低成本、低温环境下制造超薄轻质柔性电池的潜力，但由于它们将阳光转化为电能的效率落后于硅和其他一些替代品，其前景一直受限。
